Michael, Enjoyed your column this morning! We need an integrated, strategic process to Life Skills assessment, planning, resources, and measurement for all 20-year life stages. If it starts in K-12 and continues through each life stage, it will serve to greatly enhance an individual's life experience and success. Think about your life as a stock portfolio consisting of specific life sectors: Identity, Health, Relationships, Spiritual, Education, Money, Career, Recreation, etc. Your parents, friends, teachers, mentors, and employers are all sector analysts advising on how to evaluate, weigh, and participate in each life stage to maximize the experience. I'm about to turn 65 and entering my fourth, 20-year life stage. I've gone through this process now three times and as I enter my fourth stage I can tell you that there are incredible assessment, planning, resources, and measurement tools for all these life sectors. It's only going to get better! Learning and applying this Life Stage process has to be a priority with the next generation of K-12 teachers.
